The Armour of God
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the
full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the
devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of
this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that
when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground,
and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with
the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness
that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up
the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming
arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for
all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:10-18

1 - The Belt of Truth
"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist"
Ephesians 6:14. The belt of truth embraces our hearts and our
minds. Truth keeps us secure in Jesus and makes effective all the
other pieces of armour. The belt of truth holds our armour in
place.
2 - The Breastplate of Righteousness
"with the breastplate of righteousness in place," Ephesians 6:14 -
A soldier with a breastplate goes into battle boldly with
confidence. The devil is constantly attacking with lies,
accusations and reminders of past sin. Without the breastplate of
righteousness, these will penetrate your heart. “Let us then
approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may
receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
(Hebrews 4:16)
3 - Feet of Readiness
"…and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the
gospel of peace." Ephesians 6:15 - Shoes allow us to step freely
and without fear while we turn our full attention to the battle at
hand. They aid in our movement and defence. The shoes God
gives propel us forward to proclaim the true peace, which is
available through Jesus. Prepare yourself to follow the Lord no
matter what.
4 - The Shield of Faith
"In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you
can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. " Ephesians
6:16 - The shield not only defends our whole body but also our
armour. The shield of faith has a very specific function, which the
Bible makes abundantly clear: quench all the fiery darts of the evil
one. Not some but all of them. The shield moves with the attack
no matter what the direction.
5 - The Helmet of Salvation
"Take the helmet of salvation." Ephesians 6:17 - The evil one
targets your mind and tells lies to you. The enemy wants to make
us doubt God and our salvation. The helmet protects our minds
from doubting the truth of God's words to us. "But since we
belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a
breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet."
1 Thessalonians 5:8
6 - The Sword of the Spirit
Put on "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Ephesians 6:17 - The sword of the Spirit is the only weapon of
attack in the armour, but His Biblical Word is also a tool for
defence. Strongholds, arguments and thoughts are all weapons
the enemy uses against us. With the Sword of the Spirit, God's
Word, we are equipped to deal with them all. We need to trust in
the truth of God's Word. Have confidence in the value of God's
word. Get a hunger and desire for it.
We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans
do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly
weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human
reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We
destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people
from knowing God. We capture their rebellious
thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert
and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s

After we are born again and have claimed the Spiritual
Armour protecting us, when we get up each morning, we
don’t have to keep putting it on. We shouldn’t have taken it
off the night before! We should thank God that we are
protected by all the attributes this Spiritual Armour gives us.
