Church in Decay Dream - Fri 6 Aug 2021 01.15 I was at an unknown seaside town sea front where there was a Victorian style sea defence and promenade with scenic gardens, lawns and paths behind, then there were sea front buildings. I was with someone who lived there and knew the place and we walked down to the sea front and along the paths in the promenade gardens. When we came to one part, some of it had been gouged out with deep water channels destroying the gardens and lawns at that point and you could only just squeeze by between the damaged gardens and the sea front buildings. The sea water was coming through an eroded bank in the sea wall defence and on through the promenade and into the gardens. The person leading me had obviously been here before as he easily knew the route through this carnage but he didn’t say a word about it. I had tried climbing up a large garden ornament to get through but there was a deep water channel the other side stopping me so I had to retrace my steps and get further inland next to the buildings to get past these barriers. Some time in the past the sea must have broken through the sea defences and promenade bit by bit and destroyed the scenic gardens behind. Why hadn’t the authorities fixed the sea defences when the sea started to break through when it must have only been a small amount of damage and easy to fix? It would now be a very large major job to fix it all. If they left it any longer, the sea would start destroying the buildings. The local people seemed to be blind to what was happening to their town. Interpretation The Lord told me this represents the church. Why has the church allowed sin to eat its way into itself and our society, slowly destroying it bit by bit? We must repent, fix things up and rebuild, putting things right. We must rebuild our defences against the evil one. The Victorian church and society had built strong defences against sin. Why have we let them decay and get eaten away without fixing? A bit later the Lord also told me that this also represents the covid 19 fiasco where the church as a whole has hardly done anything to question the sanity and evil of what has been going on. Why have we so far let the authorities slowly destroy more and more of our freedoms and society?
